Make a local authority festival look engaging to Exmouth and the surrounding area. Freshen it up, take it to the next level. Brand it as something unique about Exmouth and highlight the diverse programme of events.
It was all about community engagement, not just to go to the festival but to get actively involved in it at the grass roots level.
We decided to take a really direct line to getting Exmouth locals involved with the idea: you are invited. We played on the Victorian heritage of Exmouth and the colourfulness of the festival itself in order to create the branding.
Festival programme, large banners, leaflets and posters. 2009 was one of the most successful local festivals to date for Exmouth in terms of visitor numbers. The by-product was that it created a lot of local trade and put Exmouth on the map as a tourist destination. The Exmouth festival is one of the key events in the Exmouth tourism calendar.
