We need a PHP developer/programmer in Exeter, Devon

The Company:

Reactor is a small but thriving web design, mobile app development, graphic design and marketing agency in Exeter.

We offer a friendly, relaxed working environment, coupled with a strong work ethic and customer care ethos. You'll be working as part of a small, dynamic team of 5, and with a wide range of other freelance associates.

The Job:

We're looking for a talented PHP programmer who can also demonstrate excellent working knowledge and skills in all of the following: HTML, XHTML, MYSQL, CSS, Javascript and AJAX.

You'll need to demonstrate a full understanding of latest W3C Web standards.

You must be able to demonstrate a healthy range of live websites you have developed alone or as part of a team in which you were the lead developer.

You:

We are looking for someone who has exceptional communication skills, who is comfortable talking and meeting directly with clients as well as explaining sometimes complex problems in plain English to clients.

You need to show you're a practical problem solver, pro-active in responding to customers, with an eye for detail and a knack for troubleshooting. You'll also need to be able to help translate ideas into practical programming realities.

You should be a self starter, able to multi-task, prioritise, work independently and handle a varied workload.

Benefits:

Salary is competitive and open to negotiation depending upon your experience, with 4 weeks paid holiday per year.

Contract: We're offering an initial 3 month full time contract with a view to recruiting the right candidate permanently.

Some local travel to meetings within Devon is expected as well as occasional meetings in London and the South East.

Location: Central Exeter, South Devon.

Your Roles:

• Developing custom built online systems and extending existing open/closed source systems.
• Being part of the specing process with the management team and clients.
• Performing CMS integration (open source software).
• Web accessibility compliance testing and cross browser testing.
• Ongoing website updates and maintenance.
• Taking designs created in Photoshop and building HTML websites and CSS templates.

Skills Required:

• Strong working knowledge of PHP 5 & MYSQL (preferably 5+ years).
• Experience of Object Orientation design and development.
• Experience in using and implementing Open Source CMS, CRM Software & API's.
• Strong working knowledge of Javascript & Ajax.
• Strong working knowledge of HTML & CSS to the very latest standards (preferably 5+ years).
• Ability with slicing and tweaking in Adobe Photoshop.
• Strong communication skills.
